Concise Selina Solutions for Class 9 maths Chapter 26 Co Ordinate Geometry

In classical mathematics, analytic geometry, also known as coordinate geometry or Cartesian geometry, is the study of geometry using a coordinate system. The branch of mathematics deals with questions related to shape, size, the relative position of figures, and the properties of space is known as Geometry. Further, the branch of geometry in which coordinates define the position of the points on the plane is known as Coordinate Geometry. It contrasts with synthetic geometry. Analytic geometry is used in physics and engineering, and also in aviation, rocketry, space science, and spaceflight. Coordinate geometry is one of the most important and exciting ideas of mathematics. It provides a connection between algebra and geometry through graphs of lines and curves. It enables geometric problems to be solved algebraically and provides geometric insights into algebra. Lots and lots of coordinate geometry are used in finding the shortest path and the distance between them. There are other concepts involved too. c) It is used in MS Paint to draw curved and slanted lines. d) It is also made in use while developing a game to specify the locations of objects and characters.
